Why we call it Lamb's Blood

Our first hoodie comes in a deep, dark red. Most brands would call that color oxblood, wine or burgundy. We call it Lamb's Blood.

We know that's a heavy name for a color. We chose it carefully, and we want to tell you why.

Where the name comes from

In Exodus 12, the night before Israel left Egypt, each household marked its doorframe with the blood of a lamb. That mark meant they were covered. Death passed over them.

Centuries later, John the Baptist saw Jesus and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29). Peter writes that we were redeemed "with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect" (1 Peter 1:19). And in Revelation, those who come through great hardship have washed their robes "in the blood of the Lamb" (Revelation 7:14).

The color is a reminder of the price paid for us, and of the covering we live under.

Why not something softer

We thought about it. A softer name would be easier to say. But we don't want to put on a face. We'd rather name the color for what it reminds us of than borrow a word that means nothing.

We also don't want to cheapen it. You won't see the name shouted across the chest or turned into a slogan. It lives in the color itself and in the name on the tag. Gently, the way we try to do everything.

Wearing it

You don't have to think about any of this when you put it on. It's a hoodie. It's warm, it's heavy, and it should last you years. But if someone asks what the color is called, you'll have a story to tell them.

His love endures forever.
